Work at Home Job

My company is looking to hire 3 people who want to work from home.  The pay is $11/hour and the work is flexible.  It's great for moms who are at home and who are looking to make a little extra income.  If you are interested or know of anyone who's interested, please send me a message.   (Oh, if you're wondering, it is not a scam or a home business.  It's a real job. I've been working there for almost 2 years now and I must say, I absolutely love it! It allows me to stay home with my kids while I can earn an income at the same time.)   Here's a description of the job -

Must have cell phone, laptop, car. Must be good with numbers and familiar with Microsoft Excel.  Must live within one hour of Evanston, IL.  Primarily work from home. No sales. Fun work environment. Full or part-time, $11/hour.

About Rising Stock

Our mission at Rising Stock is to be the leading coaching organization in the world for direct sales professionals.  We do this by analyzing income-earning and spending patterns for our clients, and coaching them with specific action steps to become wealthier.

We're professional people who enjoy a fun work environment.   We’re all about getting the job done.  Everyone has a voice, and all ideas are welcome.  We take ourselves lightly, and our work seriously.

Once a week, on Tuesday nights, we meet in Evanston for two hours.  Otherwise, we are in touch through email and cell phones.  (Thus, cell phone, laptop, and car are prerequisites.)

About the Account Rep Position

The service we provide to clients is a half-hour coaching call, once a month, with an Excel based profit-and-loss report.  This job exists to put together that report, to schedule a meeting between the client and his or her coach, and to provide customer service as needed.

Professionalism and accuracy are vital.  Our reports are nothing more than a series of details.  Also, because this position is unsupervised, you need to be your own taskmaster.

The work comes on a monthly cycle.  You will be busy early in the month and likely have time on your hands at the month’s end.  There is no Monday-through-Friday work week, nor set-in-stone work hours – it’s whatever hours are necessary to get the job done.  Flexibility to work weekends or odd hours if needed is a plus.

This is an independent contractor position.  You will not be an employee of the company.  This means you will provide an invoice listing hours worked, and receive a check.  Your expenses (gasoline, cell phone, etc.) are not reimbursed, but they will be deductible on your taxes at the end of the year.  You will do your own taxes and withholding.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

Part of the job is reaching people to classify unknown expenses.  These are not sales calls, but some people are difficult to reach.  Your persistence in calling them is desired, however.  If leaving repeated voicemail messages, speaking to receptionists, and having clients miss scheduled phone calls will upset you, this won’t be a good fit.

A good deal of the job is data entry.  Putting together our profit-and-loss reports requires using the internet, a moderate amount of typing, familiarity with Excel and the cut-and-paste function, and having a basic knowledge of the accounting concepts you’ll be dealing with.  (We have the report and the process already made, but you’ll need to have some idea of what’s going on.)

You are also expected to attend a two-hour meeting, once a week (Tuesdays from 6 to 8 PM in Evanston).  It's a chance to address issues, question & answer, exchange useful tips and have some camaraderie.

While the job itself may not seem thrilling, you get to be part of a growing small business.  We’re interested in the brain in your head and what you have to contribute, as well as your thoughts, your company, and your sense of humor on a personal level.

Let me know if you're interested!

Love makes you do crazy things

so for our 5th wedding anniversary i wanted to do a little something different than the usual card and flowers. i organized a surprise get-together with about 30 friends and thought, "hey you know what would be better than flowers? rapping."

last year i wrote a
poem about our 4th. but this year i decided not only to write some
verses describing how we got together but also rap it over a pharcyde beat. in front of 40
people. for the first (and perhaps only) time ever. i wasn't sure how
it would go over but people seemed to like it. tola was touched that i
would do something so unexpected. when you do something like this you
can't be timid. you have to go all out. did i mention that tola doesn't
like to be the center of attention?

i recorded it on video and hopefully you'll get to see the live
performance in the near future. this way we can re-live this historical
event again and again...

Tola's reaction

Naomi was clapping and swinging her hips the whole time. after i was done she said, "Again, daddy!"

(thanks to samantha & eddie for the pics)

here are the lyrics:

Passin Me By (pk remix)

When I was school I met a mocha skinned girl
Her teeth was kind of funny and she liked to wear pearls
Little did I know she was the one I was to marry
The funny thing was that to her I wasn’t very scary

Other girls I knew would get offended or upset
When I would tell them off or speak real direct
About their flakiness or their girly behavior
Who would ever learn to love this rough misbehaver?

But on this mocha girl I had a different effect
She liked my honesty and the fact that I’m direct
She thought that I was fly and even sort of handsome
Who’d have thought this was something she could not escape from?

But I was unaware of….
My effect on this girl, but to the rest of the world
It was plain and obvious, I was dense - I confess
Caveman that I am, I was really clueless

(Hook) She keeps on passin me by...

I lived at Six Pack and she at F.A.R.
But somehow we ended living up on the same floor
We would go to lunch and hang out quite a bit
That’s how this whole thing started – straight out of friendship

People started asking, “Hey, are you guys an item?”
Even though we told them “no”, we had to kind of fight em
They say that girls and guys really can’t be good friends
Now I’d have to agree, but that ain’t how the story ends

Got to a point where we couldn’t stay together
Friendship came to end and she though that it was better
To go our separate ways, man, I didn’t know what happened
Then next thing you know this drama faded into legend

Now my mocha mama she was tired of all the drama
She tried to top beliven’ bout the things that she was feelin’
Then two flat tires back-to-back made me snap
I saw that she’s the one – there was no turning back

~~~
Then came my chance so we went to Barnes & Noble
To hang out and to study, but the thing that was funny
Was that I wasn’t taking classes, but I was running out of chances
To make this fly girl mine, now step back cause it was time…
I asked, “What you prayin bout?” to try and get a feel
Did I still have a chance or had I lost my appeal?
She said, “Oh this and that,” now she had no clue
She asked what I’d been prayin’ about, straight-up I told her, “you”
(Hook) She keeps on passin me by...
Now there she goes again the dopest Cambodian
Coming down the aisle with a smile decked out in wedding style
We both said “I do” till death do us part
Marriage is a fusion of sacrifice and heart
Then it was off to reception number one
Where there was food, friends, family and good clean fun
Next week it was time for reception number two
Cambodian this time with the band K-Blue
The wedding it was done now the marriage had begun
We was young and in love with no kids to speak of
Then we two – first Naomi then Aden
It’s apparent that we’re parents but it’s like we’re still datin’
My wife, here’s to you, you’re the love of my life
Through strife and tribulation and in every situation
You shine, sublime and through this hip hop hymn
I remain yours truly – Paul W. Kim
haircut
so i've been wanting to get a haircut for awhile now but just haven't had the time to go and get it done.  it's funny because today i was reading a friend's xanga and she posted some pictures of herself with all the different celebrity hairstyles.  apparently if you go to http://www.instyle.com/hairmakeover you can upload your own picture and try out all these different hairstyles for free.  i'm looking for a change because i'm getting tired of my long, plain-looking hair.  at first i was thinking maybe i should get some bangs and keep it long.  now i'm thinking maybe short?  i'm so confused and can't decide.  i have no idea which of these hairstyles look good.  any suggestions?
